Chinese electric vehicle leader BYD is redefining convenience for drivers by teaming up with KFC to create a seamless “charge and dine” experience. Through a new partnership with Yum China Holdings, the companies are rolling out “nine-minute” drive-thru locations that allow EV owners to recharge their vehicles while grabbing a quick meal. The concept is built around BYD’s advanced Blade battery technology, which can reach near-full charge in under ten minutes, aligning charging time with a typical fast-food stop.
To enhance the experience, BYD is introducing a smart in-car ordering system that lets drivers browse menus, place orders, and locate participating KFC outlets directly from their vehicle interface. This feature will debut in select models, including the Fangchengbao Ti7 SUV, and expand across BYD’s EV lineup. The initiative aims to tackle one of the biggest challenges in EV adoption, which is reducing downtime during charging by integrating it into everyday routines.
